After a very long time I finally met up with a relative which I’m so fortunate to call a close friend now.
After living in Vancouver for a year and being away from my friends and family I can honestly say that being back in Toronto feels like a breath of fresh air!
Anyways, as soon as I saw her I noticed that there was a significant difference in the way she looked and the way she carried herself. In other words, she was glowing.
She soon started telling me about her yoga practice and how she was able to find herself through meditation. I immediately felt engaged in this topic not only because I myself love yoga, but because since being back in the big city I haven’t had the time to find my own “sanctuary.”
I had a special place I used to release stress at back in Vancouver. It was a kickboxing gym. Women only. I used to go almost everyday, whenever I had free time, it is such an empowering feeling being able to see yourself become stronger while surrounded by other people who share your same excitement.
So you can just imagine how upset I was of having to leave this amazing group of women that work so hard to better themselves everyday. But as we know, the universe works in its own particular way, and amazing things happen everyday, and recently, while scrolling through Instagram I saw that my gym had posted about one of my favourite trainers wishing her good luck on her new journey as the owner of a new kickboxing gym in, wait for it, yes! Toronto!
You can only imagine how excited I was when I read this! After my initial dance of joy I finally realized that I, personally find my bliss in feeling stronger, and empowered.
Some of us need slower-paced activities, others need to feel their heart beating faster and faster as if it’s going to come out of their chests. But we all have one thing in common. We all need a place where to hide even if it is just for a couple of hours a week, a place where we can forget about our personal lives, reality and the daily things that surround us and just live in the moment.
