This Winter has been and still is a very cold one here in Toronto. I love this city, but sometimes I get the urge to go back to Italy just to escape the freezing temperatures!
How to keep your beautiful blonde hair strong and healthy during the Winter
This year, as a way to kick the winter blues out, I decided to go for a complete makeover and in just two sittings I went from brunette to blonde. Going from such a dark colour to almost platinum can damage your hair immensely, but with the right care you can keep your hair looking healthy and strong.
With my newly coloured blonde hair there are a few more steps I take when washing it and styling it compared to what I used to do with my natural dark hair.
These days I will use a purple shampoo by Milk_Shake to keep the brightness of my locks as much as possible, plus I use Herbal Essences shampoo that’s colour safe for the times that I’m not using the purple shampoo. I have to be really careful because if used too much, the purple shampoo, will actually make my hair purple! It happened a week after I dyed my hair blonde for the second time! Not a very good look on me! But I have a tip! If you ever end up seeing that your hair is more purple than blonde, mix a little bit of purple shampoo with your regular one and your hair should go back to blonde in no time.
Another tip that really works for me is to air dry my hair. I’ve been doing this for years now and my hair always feel stronger when I don’t use a hairdryer.
By air drying it I am also able to wait for it to get to the damp stage which is exactly when I use my last product: Moroccan Oil Treatment Light.
This oil, formulated for light hair, is perfect for conditioning and styling blonde hair, this is the product that I’m most obsessed with since going full blonde. I put a little amount of oil on my hands and then just pass it through my damp hair. After that I let it hair dry and when it’s completely dry I style it however I want. These days I’ve been curling my hair more often, I find that undone waves look nicer on a bob cut than straightening it.
