As I got on the train this morning, I found myself thinking about the last couple of days and how stepping outside of your comfort zone can change you dramatically even if you don’t realize it at first.
Being a little shy makes me somewhat feel anxious and cautious when talking to other people, but I had to forget quickly about my introvert self soon when I was thrown in the lion’s cage (figuratively obviously) for a job assignment last weekend. I was forced to interact with more than 150 different people. My first reaction was of shock and I’ll admit, fear, but after the first few interactions I started getting the hang of things and started to enjoy the moments spent with these strangers which in a way became my “family” for three days.
Exposing yourself, pushing yourself to do something foreign to your nature can cause a sense of panic and shock, but believe me, after that experience, I feel so much more comfortable talking to strangers and even calling people on the spot (one of the things I like the least) has become a little less of a burden.
Try pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and allow the new experiences to break your shell.
