One year + Thursday Favorite Things blog hop

Exactly one year ago I got my degree in Journalism. Exactly one year ago, I finished college. Exactly one year ago I started thinking of creating my own blog. How many things can change in just one year don’t you think? Last year at this time I was in Toronto, Canada, enjoying my freedom, thinking of starting my career in the fashion industry as a journalist and thinking of the amazing Summer I had in front of me and I got to spend with my friends and family. Today everything has changed. I’m in Italy, working in Public Relations and writing for my own publication: What Erika Wears.

 

Life is so unpredictable. In just a year I feel as if I’ve lived 100 lives and have completely changed, hopefully in a better and wiser person. I still have my free, fun and cheerful Saturday nights spent with friends just thinking about our future and making plans for dreamy road trips around the world, but I have changed, we have all changed.

Now, I start thinking that I can’t stay out too late because I have work in the morning, I think of the responsibilities I have, that I’m creating for myself and I am glad that these changes are happening in my life, we all need to embrace the thought of becoming adults and working for our independence at one point. I have a friend that congratulated me on starting a new job with the words: “Congratulations! Now you are an adult!” Yes, indeed I am becoming one. But does that mean that I have to give up a portion of my childish-careless-self? Because I don’t think I’m ready for that, at least not yet.
