Sylvie and Shimmy- While on one of my walking adventures around the city, I saw the cutest clothing store! Sylvie and Shimmy is by far my new favourite independent clothing boutique downtown Toronto. It not only offers quality fabrics, which I am always on the lookout for, but the atmosphere of the shop is magical. As soon as you step in you feel like you’ve just opened the door to Wonderland. I now know how Alice felt. Dresses, shirts, pants, and not only, you’ll also find adorable necklaces and rings. But what really got me was a pair of black flats that I am still keeping an eye on for the next time I visit the store!

TSOQ – The Store on Queen- Sexy? Check. Confident? Check. Stylish? Check. What else can I say about TSOQ? This store is run by two young business women who have made their store on Queen Street famous thanks to the amazing photos they take of themselves modelling the clothes they sell. 34.1K followers and counting on Instagram. This duo knows how to seriously run a business and still have fun with it. They are the living proof that you can be successful doing what you love.

Coal Miner’s Daughter – This store is one of those locally-made clothing sanctuaries. 80% of the products are made by Canadian designers, but you will also find some European and LA products as well. CMD has three locations. The founders, Janine Haller and Krysten Caddy, opened their first shop in 2009 in Toronto and since then they have expanded their business to the GTA. If you’re looking for local designers, this is the store to visit!

Shopgirls- another great store to check out if you’re looking for Canadian-made goods. This store is also very body-positive. They push the idea that you should love your body for what it is and it can do and for this reason you should shop based on your body shape and not follow the trends of today and tomorrow. And let’s be honest, their jewellery collection is great!
