Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop #192

Yesterday was a special day for Italians, in fact we celebrated a national holiday: Republic Day (festa della Repubblica ) and while everyone had the day off and went to the sea, to the mall or out somewhere to enjoy the beautiful, warm day we had, I spent my day with my family at home.

I haven’t been home almost at all these past few weeks, and I really felt like I needed a break from the world. Last Sunday, as I mentioned in my previous post, I went to Rome and visited not only the Louis Vuitton exhibition I was so eagerly waiting to see, but also the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. Now, you might think: “wow, she’s Italian, lives near Rome and she has never seen the Vatican?” Indeed, I haven’t. I can’t really tell you why  I haven’t, I just know I never had the opportunity to go and visit it before. 

I have to admit that I was taken away by the magnificence, the richness and the geniality of these artists. Michelangelo, Raffaello are the a couple of names of artists that I love and after seeing what they were able to create, those famous paintings that I had the chance to admire only in art books, well, seeing them from up close is just another experience I was happy to be able to scratch off my bucket list.

This is why my favourite thing this week has to be my visit at the Vatican.
