Keats-Shelley House + Thursday Favorite Things Blog Hop

Happy Thursday friends! 

Last Saturday my aunt from Toronto came to visit us here in Italy with one of her good friends who had to come for some meetings regarding her job and while they stayed in Rome for the first week, my mom and I went to go meet them and walked around the city. Since I’ve been back, I have been going downtown more than ever, for my internship, which has now cometo an end and for shopping sprees with friends, but this time we did something different, something my mother and I have always wanted to do. We visited the Keats-Shelley House. 

The House is located beside the Spanish Steps and as soon as you walk in you notice the many stairs you need to climb before getting to the office where you can purchase your ticket and start the tour of the house.

The house is built on different levels. We visited three major rooms that once were honoured by the presence of such famous writers, the library, full of books and some cases displaying the original letters written by the poets and their relatives, the balcony, which has been recently renovated, and the smallest room of them all, but also the most important: Keats’ bedroom. 

In this room there are still the bed in which Keats died, his chair and his desk. The entire apartment is surrounded by silence and tranquillity, from the windows you can see tourists going up and down the Spanish Steps and in a matter of seconds you are enveloped in the atmosphere of the house.
