This week for Street style lessons from Celebrities we take fashion inspiration from British actress Lily Collins.
With her new movie now showing on the big screen, Love,Rosie, Collins is definitely a girl to keep an eye on! The 25 year old, known for her bold eyebrows and for her notorious family status, (her father is non other than Genesis drummer/ singer Phil Collins) has also got an impeccable style. Edgy, but still simple and minimalist, Collins knows how to look great while keeping it simple and classy.
She’s often regarded as the “modern Audrey Hepburn” for the striking resemblance to the late Hollywood diva and she also takes style inspiration from her.
Many high profiled fashion brands have noticed her style sense through the years, from Chanel to the Swiss luxury brand Movado. and fresh from this year is her latest collaboration with Lancome, she became Lancome’s newest brand ambassador at the beginning of 2014 and the face of a special Spring makeup collection called French Ballerine. Not too bad for a girl in her twenties right?
In the first picture I really like her outfit, it’s very simple and elegant at the same time. She’s wearing a black and white dress with a jacket and a pair of black ankle boots. For my take on the look I decided to skip the dress and go for a top and skirt pairing instead. I also really like this bomber jacket from Asos and the ankle boots by Dorothy Perkins.

Ankle boots: Dorothy Perkins
Sunglasses: Zalando
For her second look, which is more casual than the other two outfits, she added a kimono, a clothing piece which was one of the new fashion trends for Spring 2014, to a very basic and classic casual outfit: the t-shirt and jeans look. Another stylish addition to this outfit is her shoe choice. She wore a pair of high heels peep-toe sandals and finished the look with a black shoulder bag. I really like this outfit, because it makes you realize how easy it is to transform what is usually described as a basic outfit into something more stylish just by adding a different clothing piece or a few accessories.

Jeans: Zara
Kimono: H&M
Sandals: New Look
Bag: Kate Spade
For her last look, Collins wore a colourful patterned dress with a blazer jacket on top and a pair of high heeled ankle boots. Her outfits are usually very minimalist, she doesn’t wear much jewellery and as we can see from the first photo, she usually wears very simple and elegant pieces, such as a bracelet or a necklace. For this look I chose I dress with a floral pattern, I’ve been obsessed with this specific pattern for a while now, it gives the garment a beautiful, romantic vibe, perfect for a night out with friends or a date. The high heeled ankle boots instead add that edginess that Collins is almost always trying to squeeze in her personal look.
