I just got back to Toronto yesterday after spending 26 hours in Mainz, Germany.
26 hours in Mainz
Mainz is a river port city, easily reachable from the Frankfurt airport.
It was my first time going to Mainz, and actually my first time going to Germany! With my job it’s very easy to get used to visiting a city and sight seeing for a very short amount of time. 24 hours is usually enough time to visit a new city if you’re able to go there more than once.
As a new flight attendant, I haven’t seen a lot of cities yet, but it’s always great to be able to go out with a crew that goes there 2 or 3 times a month, because they always have great suggestions and they definitely know where to go and what to do.
Since it was my first time in Mainz though, Myself and two other friends decided to just go for a walk this time and get an idea of what we could do next time.
It was a nice, sunny day, although a little cold, especially when the wind started blowing. I loved taking photos of the colourful buildings that make this town such a pretty little jewel and by the photos, which were taken during lunch time, you can tell that it’s a very peaceful and quiet town.
After our walk around the town, we decided to go and warm up in a cute restaurant/coffee shop located in the heart of the city called Hintz & Kuntz. Here we sat down and ordered a coffee. I always love finding and trying new, local coffee shops in the cities I visit and this one was a very nice one that I do recommend if you ever get a chance to visit Mainz.
After our coffee we went back to the hotel to freshen up and meet the rest of the crew. For dinner we went to a very cute, traditional German restaurant called Stadthaus Schanke, where I had my very first Schnitzel! It was so good! This is one place where you’ll definitely find the locals hanging out, not only to eat, but to drink a good beer and have a good time!
After dinner we all went back to the hotel because our 26 hours were almost up and we had a good 8 hours of work ahead of us in the morning to get back to Toronto.
I had such a great time in this city and I can’t wait to go back!
