I’ve always had two homes in my mind. Italy is the country I was born in, the place where I keep going back to because my family is still there, the country that taught me to love literature and art and filled me with the drive to write and read as much as possible. On the other hand Toronto, the city I came to live in five years ago has always been the place I could be myself the most in. Its multiculturalism, its youthful vibe have always been a sort of magnet to me. These two places, completely different and so far away from each other bring out two different sides of my personality. And these days I can say I found a new home away from home: Vancouver.
My new Home away from Home
With so many changes happening in my life at the moment I can finally say that I found a place that reminds me of the way Italy makes me feel in Canada. Vancouver is filled with parks and it’s surrounded by nature. It has a completely different vibe from Toronto. It’s much more relaxed and people tend to really enjoy their lives outside of their work places more. How could they say no to a walk on the beach or a jog in Stanley Park after all?
Yesterday I went out to discover a little more about this beautiful city. I walked all day just to take photos in Stanley Park, the park everyone talks about. And I now understand what all the buzz is for. It does take your breath away to be surrounded by two elements of Nature. On one side you have trees, grass, flowers and a wall of wild berries while on the other side you are faced with the ocean in all of its majestic beauty and power.
